Located in the heart of Ireland, Castle Durrow is regarded as one of Ireland's hidden gems.
Built in 1716, this magnificent 300 year old mansion has been fully restored to its former glory of when it was used as the private house of the Flower Family, later to be known as Viscounts Ashbrook.
The original cantilever grand staircase is located in the west wing of the mansion a magnificent stained glass window, probably to celebrate a marrage circa 1860 is lighting the main staircase. The design was inspired by one of William Shakespeare’s best known sonnets, ‘the seven ages of man’. Centered in the lower quarter are the initials WF and AM (William Flower and Augusta Marton). The Flower family motto is inscribed, Mens Conscia recti - 'A mind aware of its own right'.
